MY

Approach

My shooting approach leans away from the conventional and toward the creative. I look for beauty in imperfection and aim to encapsulate the emotion of your day rather than merely "taking pictures" of it. I combine editorial and documentary photography and incorporate flash, film, motion blur, and other artistic elements to create a fresh and unique look to your gallery. I love venturing away from the predictable in favor of creating the unexpected. Why have boring when you can have bold?

Why

Documentary?

Documentary style photography is all about storytelling through observation. It's a hands-off, fly-on-the-wall shooting approach that allows real moments to unfold naturally without interference or direction. Achieving this style requires time and presence. Rather than staged poses, it's about patiently watching and anticipating moments so that every image best reflects your special day. I believe this approach not only preserves your special memories in their most real and raw form but also makes your photos unique and meaningful.

WHAT IS
EDITORIAL
STYLE PHOTOGRAPHY?

Editorial style photography brings a stylized and creative angle to taking photos. This approach involves using dramatic lighting, unique posing, flash, motion blur, and other artistic techniques to create imagery that feels intentional and elevated, like something straight out of a fashion magazine! I often lean into the unexpected. I draw inspiration from fashion editorials, paintings, and classic Hollywood cinema. I focus on the fashion, the framing, and artistic composition to give each frame a striking look.

One element that I focus heavily on is the fashion. I have always had an eye for it, even when I was a little girl! I am often incorporating texture, lines, movement, and structure to highlight your wardrobe choices in a way that feels elevated and authentically  Y O U!

Film.

I have always appreciated film photography. When I was little, I would beg my grandparents to bring out their thick, leather-bound photo albums and tell me the stories of my relatives who populated the pages. It felt like I was able to "meet" my ancestors just by holding a 150-year-old tintype in my hands. There is something lasting about film photography. Film gives you a way to physically connect with memories in a way that digital photos will never be able to provide.

My grandad was the one who really got me into photography and from the beginning he encouraged me to try shooting film.  I was young and afraid of  "messing up," so the idea was off-putting. I didn't want anything want anything below perfection and I knew film could be unpredictable. Eventually, I picked up a film camera and fell in love with photography all over again. I fell in love with the intentionality of shooting, the different colors and qualities of each film stock, and I fell in love with how I will never truly know how a photo will turn out until they are developed.

Film photography brought me back to the heart of why I fell in love with this art in the first place. It’s become a signature element of my work and a reflection of my artful and intentional shooting approach.
